Multiple people were hospitalized after DeKalb Co. house fire that fostered people with disabilities – WSB-TV Channel 2

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A DeKalb County house fire is under investigation after multiple people were taken to the hospital.

According to the City of Chamblee, DeKalb County Fire and Rescue crews were called out to a house fire on London Road around 10 pm Sunday.

The home was known for taking care of people with disabilities.

DCFR said when they arrived, the house was fully engulfed in heavy smoke and flames.

Chamblee said there were seven people inside the house when the fire started, and DCFR said several people were outside of the house after self-evacuating before the firefighters arrived.

Two people were rescued from the house and one of those victims went into cardiac arrest, according to firefighters.

Chamblee said four people were taken to the hospital. Three were disabled individuals and the fourth person was their adoptive father.

The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

DCFR said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
