As August approaches the garden is over its initial June frenzy and we settle in for the warm weather until September arrives. Today I was feeling the need to be creative, and I grabbed a basketball and scissors to see what I could forage in the garden despite the heatwave.
Flowers are one of my easiest ways to get creative, and if there is one thing that age has taught me it’s that being creative every day is absolutely vital to my well being.
This bouquet is not fancy, it isn’t professional looking but I don’t mind. It brought me pleasure to put it together and share the ‘making-of’ on Instagram here. It will bring me pleasure for the next couple of days as I walk past it on a table in the dining room.
Because I know how vital creativity is, and I know how easy it is to let our everyday routine steal those creative moments, I have decided that August will be my month of creativity here on the blog and on Instagram. I’ll be playing with flowers, doing some easy painting, creating table scapes, talking about garden design and also talking with some true artists whose creativity gives me joy.
I’m not setting myself up as an expert in any way, simply wanting to share the joy of doing something creative and enjoying the result, even when its not quite perfect.
I’d love to know where your creativity lies? What makes you tick? Which direction do you turn when you feel that your batteries are running on empty? Please share with us your own creative pleasures and how you kickstart your own energy when your daily routine is dragging you down?
And keep your eyes open for our creative and floral month of august!
